Becoming a Volunteer

Our volunteers consist of teachers, parents, school staff, students, sports coaches and senior pupils who are all central to the success of Active Schools.

To reduce barriers for children to participate, and to strive for an inclusive community for all in sport and physical activity, Active Schools and Sport Scotland are reducing the number of clubs that are charged across the city.

In order to carry this out, we are recruiting volunteers to become part of a team who will create and support clubs in schools. As a volunteer you will have the chance to change lives through sports and physical activity.

So, come and have fun, meet new people and be part of a team!

Anyone who wishes to become a volunteer in their local school will be required to become a member of the PVG scheme.

Parent Volunteers

Across Dundee, we are urgently needing parent volunteers to help in your child’s school in various roles such as leading or assisting sports clubs and activities.

If you like working with children and are enthusiastic we would be delighted to hear from you. Please do not be put off if you haven’t done anything like this before as full training and support will be offered from the outset.

The amount of time that you can commit is entirely up to you, but it really can help to make a big difference.

How to Get Involved

  1. Contact your local Active Schools Coordinator directly, at School or via the enquiry box on the website.

Volunteer Value & Recognition

There are many reasons to volunteer in sport – volunteers make sport happen and create the next generation of sporting stars.

As a thank you for giving up your time, the Active Schools Team will create a training plan for you to gain sports specific qualifications at no cost, free PVG and a T-Shirt so that you are recognised as part of the team wherever you are coaching.

Volunteer Awards

Each year Active Schools looks to reward their volunteers by hosting a Volunteer Awards Night to celebrate their hard work and success by inspiring young people to take part in school sport.
